First time here - excellent service by Prachi. Loved the tuna tartare, wagyu beef skewer, rainbow mountain roll and all of the non-alcoholic cocktail options. Worth a visit, excellent view!

An Extremely Disappointing Experience – A Milestone Birthday Almost Ruined by Poor Organisation and Incompetent Management I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be documented. I made a reservation for 16 people to celebrate my partner’s milestone birthday a week in advance, carefully coordinating every detail with the restaurant. I repeatedly stressed the importance of the occasion and was assured everything would be taken care of. The restaurant then put me through what felt like nine circles of hell, insisting that I collect and submit individual menu selections for all 16 guests in advance. Despite the considerable effort, I fulfilled every request. I naturally expected a restaurant of this calibre to execute the arrangements. Apparently, that was too much to ask. As my partner and I arrived last for the surprise celebration, we found our guests in complete confusion, split between two separate tables, apparently according to their menu selections. Sixteen people celebrating together, deliberately separated by the restaurant despite all the advance coordination! I had to spend the opening moments of this special occasion explaining to the manager why this arrangement was utterly ridiculous. Eventually, after considerable discussion, we were moved to a separate dining room. Unfortunately, the problems continued. Service was inconsistent and poorly coordinated: some guests waited an unreasonably long time for their food while others had already started eating. The food itself was the biggest disappointing, particularly given our previous experiences at other Akira Back restaurants and the expectations associated with the brand. Then came the bill. We were told the entire dinner had to be on one bill, with gratuity calculated on the total including tax. I was expected to coordinate with all 16 guests to reconcile individual orders, an administrative task the restaurant should have been perfectly capable of handling. Worse, after painstakingly checking everyone’s orders, we discovered we had been charged for dishes that were never served. I had to argue with management to obtain a refund, and even then, dispute the reimbursement amount because they initially intended to exclude the associated tax and gratuity. Charging customers for food never delivered is simply unacceptable. For an establishment positioning itself as high-end, associated with a well-known chef and an established restaurant brand, this was astonishing. The organisation, service and management were more reminiscent of a mediocre newly opened restaurant with inexperienced staff than a reputable dining establishment. A milestone birthday is not something you get to celebrate twice. I invested considerable time coordinating every detail and repeatedly sought reassurance that everything would go smoothly. Instead, I spent much of the evening managing the restaurant’s mistakes. The biggest disappointment was not just that things went wrong, but the complete lack of competence, attention to detail and accountability in resolving them. TONO by Akira Back is an expensive lesson in the difference between having a high-end reputation and actually delivering a high-end experience. I would not recommend it for any special occasion, particularly a milestone celebration.

I celebrated my birthday last night at Tono and had a wonderful experience. They were able to accommodate my large party and the staff was so nice! The food was exceptional and the restaurant is beautiful. I had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested. Don’t second-guess it because it is absolutely worth it!

Really underwhelmed by this place. At those price points, I expected the food to be more than mediocre, and the portions at least a bit bigger. The drinks were good, but again, not “wowed” for what I paid for them.

Spent over 1000$ and was by far the worst service experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We came as a group to celebrate a birthday, and what should have been a special evening turned into a four-hour ordeal. It took 1 for our drinks to arrive and approximately 1.5 for our appetizers. Our server barely checked on us throughout the entire meal. Even water refills were poorly handled — she would add an inch of water to some glasses, completely leaving others untouched, and then disappear. One person in our group waited 30 mins just for a napkin. The service was so slow that halfway through dinner I specifically asked if our food could be rushed. Despite this, we still ended up spending 4 hours there. There were also several unacceptable service issues. When our chicken wings arrived, the server spilled them directly onto our table and simply left them there for us to pick up and put back on the plate. There was no apology or attempt to clean up. The birthday celebration was particularly disappointing. We brought our own birthday cake and wanted to keep it a surprise, but when dessert came, the restaurant brought out a slice of their own cake with candles, completely ruining the surprise of the cake we had purchased. Finally, there was an issue with the bill. There were 9 people eating, yet I was charged for 10 people — an additional $95. When I questioned this, I was told the plates were portioned for two people, so I had to pay for an additional portion. This was never clearly explained beforehand, and it makes no sense. We felt as though we were completely forgotten about in a corner.

The dishes were incredibly unique, the service was exceptional, and the view was absolutely beautiful. I’d also like to give a special thank you to Salem. She was incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the evening. Her service was truly exceptional.

Staff were accomaodante food satisfying but not filling $$$ granted it’s fine dining my only critique is corn is rather cheap to serve as a side paired with the short rib as a main could have had another to accompany also it was too cold in here added a level of discomfort to the experience and bathroom shared men/ woman so be mindful found that inappropriate in general besides that complimentary slice of cake was a thoughtful gesture but it was cut unevenly all in all fair

This place was amazing!! We came to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and they truly went above and beyond to make it special. We got the set menu, and they were so accommodating with our halal dietary requirements, even replacing the appetizers for us. They also surprised us with complimentary 0% alcohol champagne, a birthday cake, and a handwritten birthday note for my fiancé! It was all so thoughtful and made the night feel extra special. We had such an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely AMAZING and so fresh, and the service made the night even more memorable. We would definitely come back and recommend this place to everyone!! ☺️

Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our experience. The food was served very slowly, and one of our dishes was completely forgotten. We were dining here to celebrate a special occasion, so this was especially disappointing. For a fine dining restaurant, I expected a much higher level of service and attention to detail. Overall, I don’t feel this was a true fine dining experience, and in my opinion, the restaurant is overrated.

had a birthday dinner here. the space was so beautiful and i enjoyed a wonderful meal with my boyfriend and friends. my boyfriend and i got the dry aged strip loin which was so incredibly delicious! that sharp cheese sauce paired with the meat so well. for my drink i tried the purple yūgen which was light and floral—so yummy! my friends tried the one of the chicken dishes (as seen in pics) as well as the wagyu risotto, which they also said was delightful. we all shared the satori drink which was very refreshing! served chilled with the best fruity flavour. service was slightly slow at times, but this was most likely due to restaurant getting a bit busier. our waiters was super kind and very helpful when it came to understanding what some of the dishes include. overall amazing flavours! definitely would come here again for a fabulous meal.

We had such an amazing experience! Everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the service truly made the night even better. Our server, Natasha, was phenomenal! She was so kind, welcoming, and attentive, and had a smile on her face the entire time. She answered all of our questions and gave us amazing recommendations that we absolutely loved. You could tell she genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. Between the incredible food and Natasha’s exceptional service, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
